Top Story: YouthCity Liberty Park Hosts First Ever YouthCity Olympics
By: Ruth
First, the kids prepared by setting up all the events: Sharpshooting, Wet Sponge Volleyball, Long Jump, Shotput, or "ball throwy thing." Once all the YouthCity sites arrived at Liberty Park, they split up into teams of smaller and older kids. The smaller kids played dodge-ball and kickball, while the older kids rotated between the previously mentioned events they set up. Once the kids played all the events, all the YouthCity sites came together for a 50 and 100 Yard Dash. There was loud (techno) music, and everybody was screaming for their teammates. The winners won fun prizes. The most memorable moments were when The TA's (Teaching Assistants) decided to put targets on themselves and became moving targets for the sharpshooting games. There were a few injuries, including someone who got hit in the face by a Frisbee and someone who tripped on the 100 yard dash, but nothing serious, and everyone had more than enough fun to make up for it.
We would like to thank the other YouthCity sites for participating in the first ever YouthCity Olympics and we hope to see many more in the future.
