The green screen is currently being painted, with a special green paint that John was able to find called "Zippidy-Doo-Dah". Our PVC frame is completely ready for use, and set be set up and down very quickly. The other side that isn't painted green will be used as a movie projection screen, likely tomorrow for some video games on the projector.
Van stuck in Brighton!
by Peter
Tuesday's outdoor adventure class, Koty drove us up to Brighton to hike around Silver lake. In the parking lot, before the walking started, Koty managed to get us stuck barely touching against another car, so that neither car could move forward. We were totally stuck and had to have two guys bring a giant jack to lift up the van and push it to the side. After the men helped us, the van was un-stuck, ad the police came to take "crime" photos of any damage caused. Since all of the kids had to wait while the van was being freed, and Koty thought that we had endured enough torture, we got doughnuts.
Video game descriptions
by Harry and Peter
In Video game class we programed a new game called "Pawnomon Man". It involves a square with a hat and a mustache on a quest to get his color back by going through a series of levels that involve monsters and power-ups like fire, ice, and super-jump. We hope that this game will be done in "A long time."
Lateral Thinking Puzzles & Slurpees
by Ruth
John decided he wanted us to "learn" to think in a "different way." So in FWJ (Fun With Justin), Justin told us some strange story-mysteries & had us think outside the box to solve the puzzle, figure out what was going on. The deal was, anyone who solved a puzzle, got a handful of Mike&Ikes, & if we solved all of the problems, as a group. we would get Slurpees next time. We solved them all, & at the end, everyone who didn't get a handful of candy got a small handful anyway, because Justin was nice.
The next time we walked over the the 7-11, and to make sure there wasn't a huge commotion only three kids actually went inside with Justin. They sort of took the orders of what everyone wanted, & got them to those who wanted them.
The couch
by Priscilla, expanded by Alex
For the past seven summers, YouthCity @ Liberty Park has had the same two dark green couches. John always attributes their longevity to the fact that he has almost always succeeded at stopping kids from jumping on them, or putting shoes on them. Today, due to an arrangement with Felicia, who works in the YotuthCity offices, and RC Willey, we now have two halves of a large segmented couch, and a new ottoman. After the day's meeting, most everybody in the building helped rearrange a lot of our furniture to accommodate the new seating. Some major differences you may notice in our building are the Foosball table being moved to the skateboard area, and the other couches being shifted over. The kids of YouthCity would like to thank RC Willey for agreeing to give us some of their furniture.
